IF by Rudyard Kipling, explanation?

I think what it means by "you'll be a Man" is that it's not enough to just fight back all the world's atrocities, because any man can fight, but being a real "Man" (with a capital "M") also means having the spiritual fortitude to withstand every kind of abuse and still keep your sanity, ethics and wisdom intact.
