Going from Pages to Google Docs to Microsoft Word (an old version)?

Okay, long story short. I wrote two papers on my mac, the mac broke down, I sent the papers onto google docs, and shipped my mac off to apple. 9 months ago when I did this, it worked fine. Now, I can't get them to go from Google Docs to Microsoft Word, because it apparently thinks they are PNG files. Both papers are due tomorrow, I'm not staying up all night to retype them. How do I fix this problem?
