Can I move an E-mail from my inbox and copy to a Document in my IMac?

I have a family journal as a (Pages) document in my IMac. I want to include some E-mails from family members rather than retyping the entire contents. Is it possible to simply move an E-mail into my journal? I have tried to move an E-mail to my desktop hoping to then move it to my Journal. It doesn't work. Please help!
