You can't help who you're attracted to. So what the Catholic church says is that as long you don't go along with the action, it's fine. For one, they aren't married, so just like a straight couple having sex is a sin, so is a gay couple. Homosexuality may not be mentioned in the NT, but marriage about a man and woman are only mentioned because those are the only kinds that can produce children. The bible is full of comments about the blessings and abundance of children. God loves gay people, practicing or not, but the act is still wrong.
